New Libyan Passport Regulations.

Good morning to all fellow bloggers. (Libyan and non Libyan)
Last night i came upon some very disturbing news. It was announced "unoffically" that anyone that does not have an Arabic translation in their passport is not permitted to enter or leave LIBYA! For Libyans its the other way round. the page that has the english translation on it has been deleted. Some torn, while others were just crossed out. This has caused some very big problems. This so called regulation was made over night and was forced into action. it has left hundreds of Libyans stranded in airports all over the world, because, now that the English page is not valid, many airports don't recognize it anymore. same for the non Libyans. they cannot leave or enter libya, at least for the time being. Ok, this is very weird. Why the hell would anyone in their right mind make such a decision and on what bases? (the matter of 'who' i will leave for u to figure out). its the most ridiculous and stupid thing i have ever heard. ya3ni if the Libyan government is gonna force this new 'law' they should at least give notice to the people. a lot of passengers were left stranded in the airport, more specially on the plane because their passports didn't have the Arabic in it, even though they had valid visas. this is very troubling for US Libyans who live outside of Libya. how are we to move around? ok for those of us who have dual-citizenship our other passport will help us, but come on, how about those who don't? Our president didn't think of that before he imposed such a rule. this is gonna leave Libya cut off from the world, even after it made it clear before that it was making changes to become part of the world. it is the ONLY country in the world who has such a rule. Libya has done this once before(2005) but it was never enforced and later it was just canceled.... The ambassadors of every country to Libya , and the international press is trying to shed some light on this, yet our government isn't available for comment. come on, we all know that they are stuck. WAT THE HELL ARE THEY GONNA SAY IN RESPONSE TO SUCH AN ACT?

"
Libya on Tuesday confirmed it will turn away Western visitors to the north African nation unless they provide Arabic translations of their passports. "Libya will not reverse its decision, nor will it take into consideration the int'l reaction" and uproar triggered by the new restrictions, a Libyan official told AFP. "The West demands that we translate our passports into English and therefore we must act in kind. It is only normal," said the official. [AFP]" ok its not normal to do what u did, oh Libyan government!....English is an international Language.
It is not yet clear as to what is going to happen next. Travel in and out of Libya has come to a complete stop, until further notice, or until they cancel such a law. this is one of the most ridiculous things Libya has done so far. Libyans have enough to handle as it is, they don't need more to worry about. businesses that have work with countries overseas will have to stop, because NO ONE CAN LEAVE! they cant leave cause no country will take em...
I hope that this is sorted out really soon.
please make dual for our fellow Libyans whose businesses and liveleyhood have been affected by this.
Inshallah I need to be in Libya in January for my exams. this is graduation for me, and oh god please not make it hard for me. I myself am a dual-citizenship holder, but just the same, travel will be difficult.
(what i have written above is what i think. for sure there is more to the story so please click on the links below to understand it better)
so please my fellow Libyan bloggers, spread the word and let everyone be aware of this.
يا رب فرجها على اليبيين فى ليبيا و خارج ليبيا
امين
wa salam.

Now they say the decision of removing the English pages from Libyan passports is canceled, but they are still going on with demanding arabic translations of foreign passports!

cnn..either way the decision is very weird and sudden..they should at least give some warning...our libyan government will always be this way..somethings never change.

mr.madi. of course libya is always 100 years behind. 30 years ago libya was more advanced then the gulf coast countries..now look at it now....ahhh

Hi there
Well, yes the decision has been cancelled ,effective today..But i join my voice to 3abtash's..The way the decision was taken and the way in which it was forced was really strange and rediculous...to achieve development ,libya needs to earn the worlds trust..I'm not saying that it must get down on its knees ,la sama7 Allah..but simply, and most importantly earn the confidence and the trust of Libyans who spent decades living out side and eager to come back..These decisions and the likes of it will cause foreigners and libyans abroad alike to turn away..
I hope these strange, baseless, chaotic actions will come to end..
I wish to see my Libya embraces its children with love and concern...
Regards
